Took the boat down to solomons island..launched at the bridge...fished the channel for spots..caught some..took them out to that oil rig thing..caught nothin..then tried that nuclear power plant spillway...caught nothin...How the heck does one catch rockfish?
Where are the Rips you guys are always talkin about?

The rips are just outside of the Navy base down there. You got to go out of the mouth of the river just into the mouth of the bay. Stay right as you go out. You will see it when you get there. It has a small, old light house ( that is what I am told it was) and the waves pick up a llittle bit. Fish all around it with Rapala x-raps (xr-10) blue and silver.

The rapalas are not floating. THey make floating though. These dive and suspend 4-6 feet. If there is room I'll go with ya one day!!!

tracker & brett
i fish that area 1-2 times a week and usually the gas docks (oil rig thingy) is good... but 1 time around the date you posted we got skunked also (1st time this year). I know it picked back up b/c my buddies went 2 days ago and got there limit.
I tried to fish the rips, but the current there was unbeleivable!
Ive been fishing close to home this week b/c weve been tearn' em' up in nanjemoy. hard to get a keeper, but youll catch 50 fish easy. we did limit out, biggest 3 were around low-mid twenties. we just drive around lookin for birds and breakin fish and cast rattle traps to 'em. pretty fun stuff, ill be out this evening if the showers stay away...

the current is under water, so on the surface you cant tell any different. im not much on small boats myself, especially on the bay...
