Great looking gun Dave! I bet your Mom is going to be pissed when she finds out you melted down her good silver for the gun. Does that silver plating tarnish easier with blackpowder? Seriously, slick looking rifle.

Bart it's all german silver, aka nickel brass. I've used sterling silver (real silver) on a few things, but it's awfully soft. The german stuff tarnishes, but not as bad as brass. Real silver tarnishes and turns almost black over time, but polishes back to shiny pretty easy. One of the future guns waiting to be done I'm going to use all coin silver, that's what most of the original old flintlocks used for silver inlays (harder than pure sterling, but still great for guns).
