Anybody getting psyched for it yet?
We've had some BIG tides the last few days, I'm thinking there will be a grand hatch of salt marsh skeeters just a few days before it opens, better hope for cold, windy weather those three days!!

Planning on heading over Wednesday to get my camper set up and get gear ready for the opener.. Wife is bringing the boys to me on Thursday night to hunt the next couple days. Hope the deer cooperate. We could fill the truck up with delicious woodland critters...

What's gonna be on the spit over the fire at Camp Foxy? I'll be down just after dark for dinner! Long range forecast now is calling for a front the Wednesday night before the opener, rain then switching to NW 13-15mph and highs Thursday in the 60's to kick off the 3 day hunt. I hope that holds!!!!

You mean half a deer, if the boys are anything like the old man none of them will wait to leave the stand or cook it before they start chowing down.

Unfortunatly, no fires on the lease. We will be regulated to your front yard so have the wood ready....

If you want a fire in my front yard you better learn how to burn salt water, it's still pretty wet from the tides!

Sika hunting this AM, saw two doe/fawn pairs but didn't pull the trigger. Was waiting on a stag to show the first morning. Any other reports?
At least the rain got out of here well before morning!

Congrats on the stag! Prime spot at Blackwater this morning, not a sika seen or heard, just one distant bugle and no shots in our section.

Hope you guys did better than I did. 5 hunts with zero deer spotted during daylight. Had a stag bugling to me at 40 yds, but he wouldn't show himsElf.

Shot a nice hind on the Friday hunt.. Out of range for my son Dylan. Opening morning had a stag come out on the shooting path at first light and couldn't get the boy turned to get on him... Was a decent hunt but not near enough sika sightings and very few bugles.. The others on my lease did take a few stags (4, two 5s, and a small 6) and one small hind.. Other than that it was fairly quiet on the property in the first 3 days.
