Don't know what to expect tomorrow, but I'll be out there. Had plenty of birds gobbling for two mornings in a row two weeks ago, but not a peep since at my place. Can't get a handle on them this spring, seems like the weather really has them behind schedule and acting screwy.
Good luck to everyone!

Had three sound off in the roost about 40 yards down from us. they went straight into the woods. about an hour and half one came back and stayed about 8 yards behind us full strut gobbling his head off but never wanted to come out of the woods. After that the kids were getting restless so we decided to sneak out when we had a break and go at it again tomorrow. kids got excited hearing one so close though.
Good luck to everyone this season!!

Opening morning had one gobbling his head off at a small woods I hunt, but at flydown over a dozen hens joined him and they went the other way, out of the woods, across two fields and into another woods. Came home and sat until noon, saw a few hens and a fox. Today stayed at home in what seemed like perfect conditions, but never heard a gobble, never saw a tom, only three hens in the field over the morning until I came in again at noon. I'll be out tomorrow for the fist ever Easter Sunday hunt in Dorchester! Trigger finger is getting itchy, I'd double tap the Easter Bunny at this point.

Opening day, slid close into one on the roost gobbling hard but he never gobbled on the ground. Called in some hens but no gobbles heard up to noon.
Saturday we loaded up at the parking area and stood by the fence to listen. Heard one a long ways off and started to go in his direction when I was blown over by a gobble not more that 100yds from the truck! Set up spots were less than ideal but I had to try. I heard three birds gobbling great on the roost in the distance. I let him hit the ground and gobble on his own. I lit him up with some cuts and yelps and he gobbled six times before he walked into my gun barrel at 16yds. My buddy could not get turned to make the shot.
He weighed 19.5 lbs, 10" beard, 1" spurs. I know I was lucky. Didn't hear another gobble all morning as I continued to try to get a bird for a my buddy. This was state land in Wicomico.
