I went out Saturday evening just after the snow, had a bachelor herd of 7 bucks pass the blind between 5-15 yards! Two shed bucks, a forky, pair of 6's, a high rack young 9 point I've passed a few times already this year and a decent 7 point. Drew on the 7 when he was 20 yards, broadside, let fly and it plowed snow at his feet. Too many clothes, caught glove or sleeve or facemask. Oh well, still a fun night. Going to try again the last 2 nights, wind forecast looks good for one of my spots.

Better get out there boys, it's over tomorrow and it'll be a long off season until September!
I'm really happy I missed that buck last weekend, mby big boy has showed up on camera, putting on the hard push for him tonight and tomorrow evening. With the winds swinging to the south and it warming a bit they should be on their feet if you have the food. My turnip patches have sucked in deer from all the surrounding area.

No big boys tonight, but had FOURTEEN does and yearlings come out, most in range for a shot if I'd have wanted. One more night to try 'em...

I heard a rumor that something might have gotten shot tonight. Something big.

That's a rumor. Fact or fiction to be determined in the AM at first tracking light...but hopes are low at the moment.

No blood, no sign and no joy in mudville. Aimed for 40, upon further review I think he was a bit closer to 50. In the middle of an open cut clover field, no time for the range finder and once again too many cold weather clothes. He was the big boy I was waiting all season to see in the flesh, too. Plan worked, turnip/radishes drew him in to me for the late season, just no happy ending. Had him at 28-30 yards but he was coming toward me and then quartering toward with no good shot at that range. I'll be seeing him in my dreams all summer...
