Deer were moving tonight in the rain!! Whitetail hunting tonight, saw a big six point sneaking through the marsh edge as soon as I got on stand, passed another small buck later and shot a big old horsehead doe with plenty of light left to find her, drag her out and get her loaded on the deer rack.
I was headed home before shooting time was up and every place there's normally hunters trucks there were no hunters and plenty of deer standing out in the fields. Fellas gotta learn to hunt in the nasty weather!!!!

Saw quite a few Friday as well, out in fields in the rain.
Saw a bunch yesterday in Va, and even more hunters and dogs! Some huge flocks of turkeys as well. LOL, last year had 5 or 6 does and a NICE buck run right across 301 in King George with a pack of dogs behind them.
Got home at edge of dark and had bunch of does and a unicorn in a field by my house.

I put out corn wednesday and am hunting one last time saturday amd during shotgun season. I have a blind set up and will be taking my son. I hope to kill one deer with my gun this year!

Hmmm, funniest thing tonight, a cloud of white smoke rolled out the side window of my big ground blind, smelled sorta like sulfur. Finally got one to cooperate when I had the 16ga smoothbore flintlock tonight! 8 pointer, not a huge buck but I've really been wanting to christen this gun. Best thing is he's a new buck, drawn in by my turnip/radish patches in the cold weather, never seen him or had a pic of him.

Well my gun season absolutely sucked and now I'm sitting at work. The attached picture should tell you how mine ended around 7/7:15 this morning. there was some hair on the ground about 15 feet behind the tree..minimal amount. zero blood anywhere and no trail anywhere. I imagine the hair was from shrapnel or wood chips flying. or just hair if they stay there. I walked all over the place for hours after and saw nothing. I do know now that my 20 gauge rifled slugs cut down trees though.... Attachments:
