Anybody doing anything this summer?
It's been so dang wet here that all I have is a field of mud soup. Places that had clover are doing very well this year, but it's been too wet to plant milo for the ducks and geese and it will have to stop raining for a week or two if I have any hope of getting in millet for the ducks or fall turnip/radish plots for the deer.
On the plus side though, if I can get something in I'll have the only food for two miles, none of the farmers have tilled any ground nearby yet this year.

Plan on putting some turnips in later on.
My clover from last fall is doing great! Been seeing 20 - 40 deer between 3 fields of it every evening. Nothing huge, but a lot of deer.

My food plots come in bags of yellow gold. I am looking to start my food plot on the Eastern Shore this month.. Hoping it will continue to produce delicious sika harvest through the "winter" months.. Of course I will have an additional plot in my back yard as well

I bet you're using GMO corn, feasting on deer fed with franken-corn would explain your freakish size.

It could be that the average sika deer only provides one meal for him. ;D

We have a 3 yr stand of Imperial Whitetail & Clover Crush that is doing great. Bushhogged it early June and it took care of most weeds. Planted some Iron & Clay Cowpeas (resemble soybeans) they`re growing like crazy but the deer haven`t started eating them yet. The corn is growing good with some deer damage .Planted about an acre of sunflowers (dove field) for the third year in a row ...hurricane got them in 2011, deer destroyed them in 2012, installed an electric fence this year so far it`s working . Plan on planting forage oats with turnips and forage radishes in late August . They worked out great last year especially after cold weather. We try to grow the feed rather than dump it ,seems a little more natural and the deer seem a little more at ease when feeding. I think vareity is the key, give them a choice and they`ll keep coming back.

I tried a plot of sunflowers in my yard. Planted it twice & think I have about 10 plants. Stupid squirrels dug up every single seed both times.

Would have been an amazing squirrel plot! Too bad they ate every one before they could sprout. They were 6 to 8 of them in it at a time & would let me get 10 yards away then just look at me.
