I'm calling it now, this is going to be Year of the Sika for me!
Been focusing on whitetails a lot lately, but got a hankering to get down in the marshes and chase the Jap goats harder this season. Been seeing a lot of them out and about, too, which is fueling the fire. Got some new ideas and tactics to try, could be an interesting season!

Seem's like every time you go in the marsh something dies ! So what does harder mean ? I on the other hand am thinking about giveing it up because of old age ! Then again maybe one more year . Good luck with the ghost !

Harder means getting in the truck and driving down there more often instead of sleeping the extra few hours and doing the five minute walk back to my whitetail treestand! I've still been averaging two a year with the few times I've been going, want to up that this year. Also just want to try some new ideas and tactics, seems you gotta throw something novel at them to get away from the crowds and pressure nowadays. Don't retire yet #1, the exercise will keep you young!

Don't think it will keep me young , at 62 I'm getting beat up every time I go out (lol) . But as long as I can get back into the frag I'll be there ! Guess I'll keep going untill someone has to drag me out !Hope you have GREAT luck this year !

Good luck to you Osprey and no doubt Sika hunting is a blast and not easy at all. I haven't had a shot at one of those marsh ghosts in two years and still trying to find a sika lease at a decent price, now that is tough!!!

I don't know if it's the cool temps right now, all the water in the woods or just that I started work a few hours early today, but sika were all over the roads this morning. I was down that way around 2am and there were herds of 6-10 of them on the road shoulders, bedding and feeding, running in and out of fields, darting out of the woods, just everywhere. One was a nice big 6pt in velvet that walked along in the headlights for 50 yards before jumping off the road. He was enough to get me pumped for fall, that's for sure!!

Dam. Dam, dam, dam, it's happened again. A whitetail has appeared at home that will require my undivided attention! After getting a good look at him last night with the binocs I couldn't make myself even think of sika enough right now to remember what one looks like!

I know that feeling Osprey and I will be back chasing the marsh ghost this year as I picked up a lease in Dorchester but still love shooting those big whitetails.
