Been perch fishing the past few days and oddly enough have been catching loads of small puppy/red drum! Every one has been the same size, 6", but we must have caught 25 this morning between the perch on small jig/spinner and shad dart combos. Never seen them like this before, hope they stay around when they get bigger!
You guys on the other side seeing any of 'em?

They are growing fast! Cuaght a bunch more today while perchin', and they are up to 9-11.5" size already! At that growth rate I'll have legal reds by Labor Day. Also got, all on spinners, little rock, croaker and one of those flounder today, plus 39 fat perch we kept and some throwbacks.

Wow - that really is growing fast. Didn't realize they grew that quick. Be really nice if they stick around for a few years & get really big! ;D
Nalley, How far north are you catching flounder?

Haven't caught one this year, but did catch a 19" one in the fall, during the drought in '05(?)
And it was above Chalk Pt on the Patuxent. Perch fishing has been very good down river, but only caught 1 decent croaker this am:lots of small ones.
Had the kids out with bloodworms, and a waterman came over. Asked if we were perch fishing. Said "yes". Asked if we had peeler. Said "no, bloodworms". He gave the kids a few peelers and said, "You're in the right spot-caught a hundred or so there the other day".
LOL, he was right. Was wising I had a bigger cooler. Till I got home and got to cleaning them!

They're still growing. Had two yesterday, a 14 1/2" and a 15", midday even. With every inch of length they're really putting on some girth and mass now. Fun, fun, fun fish!
