This might sound goofy, but do we have a frog season in MD? I was gonna go giggin this summer and never thought about it before if frogs were regulated as well.
DNR's website doesn't say anything, except what species there are. I wrote them to ask, but haven't heard anything.
Was just wondering....

Ha...found it! Man, they do not make it easy to find... whew! www.dnr.state.md.us/wildlife/Licenses/captive.aspYou do not need a permit to possess: • up to 10 American bullfrogs may be taken from the wild per day for personal use as food. Then in the MD fishing guide: It is illegal: 11. To use a gig to catch all trout species, frogs, walleye, striped bass, striped bass hybrid, northern pike, muskellunge, muskellunge hybrids including tiger muskie and largemouth and smallmouth bass. See page 7 for eel requirements. But it looks like you can shoot them with a a bow/arrow...hmmm. or just catch 'em in a net... So on that note Fox....wanna get the kids boots muddy this summer?

I spoke with DNR on the phone today.. You CANNOT use any means to harvest frogs that pierces their skin.. So no gigs, arrows, pellet guns, 12 gauges.. NADDA.. Basically the only legal means is by hand or net.. I guess once you have captured them dispatching them is up to you.. I found blunt force trama works well... So there you have it..

Well that answers that question. I knew you couldn't use anything to pierce the skin. I thought that just meant gigs and hooks. anyhow, good to know.
know what i'll be doing this summer with my net.... ;-)
