Anyone know if guppies would be considered an invasive species in the Potomac river?
Reason I ask is because I caught some "minnows" last summer to use for fishing & what I didn't use, I put into my aquarium. The appeared to be minnows to me, but now that I've had them for 8 months, they are starting to clean up and I can see some color in them that wouldn't be common to a minnow - at least any minnow that I know of. They also look identical as far as body shape and reproductive organs to any guppy you would see in a pet store.
Now looking at what I have, these things are all over the place. Not a snakehead or a blue catfish or a largemouth bass by any means, but if they don't belong here, wouldn't they be doing some harm too?

Gambusia (mosquito fish) maybe? Maybe check google images and see if they're close.
LOL, largemouth don't belong in the Potomac either, but not too many folks complain!

Thanks - I'd say that's it. Are they native to here?
