1 You have to go to places that have bucks, sometime where you hunt is not the best place to shed hunt. 2 Must go to a place with limited hunting pressure or lots of cover, to let buck grow older.3 You must identify food sources and spend your time in and around them.

No I do not know the guy, I just found the picture today on this site, small world. He killed it about 1/2 mile from where I found the shed last year. The shed from 3 years ago was about 1 mile from where he killed it. The buck was 145" at 3 1/2, 172" at 6 1/2 187" at 7 1/2 I had some neat history with this buck, but I never saw him while I was hunting, just sheds. Hardcore hunter, thanks! I have a lot of my more recent picture at this link. s32.photobucket.com/albums/d45/marylandwhitetail/?

I always thought that at 7 1/2 the deer would begin to decline in size?

All I can say is WOW!!!!!! You sure have found lots of dead deer and sheds. How do you do it? How long do you look for? There must be more to it than just walking around I guess, because I have only found a few sheds in my life.

Deer typically grow their biggest antlers anywhere from 5.5 to 7.5. There are alot of factors that determine when they decline, such as nutrition and stress.

You mean Cecil Gilroy didn't know he was on the forum? I believe he submitted the photo a while ago but with the excitement of the Crutchfield buck and shotgun season it got lost in the mix. Only recently did we come across it in our emails and felt it was awesome enough to put it on the forum. Hope he doesn't mind us admiring his buck. Would have called him but I don't know him personally.

I've found a few in my day but only by accident, I wasn't really out looking for them but this Feb. and March I will be in the woods scouting for them. Since putting out trail cameras I've found that there are allot more bucks around than I ever thought. Congrats. to Mr. Gilroy on that nice buck.
