I have used some real old wasp broadheads that i inferited from my family and I know in the future I will need to buy replacements. I was wondrring if anybody could tell me the pros and cons of fixed blades vs expanding? I just want to do my research before I change any of my gear.

Both are great! I always have used expandables. Most will fly just like a field point. Have some issues with them though. The new G5 T3's have been very disappointing. I had two that did not pass through and there was NO reason why they shouldn't have. I had one break off inside the deer. I had one glance off of the shoulder and it made my arrow fly through the gut. I will not use them next season! I have seen rage struggle to go through the cartiledge part of the shoulder. I think they have a week tip. They do work great though so i will continue to use them. First fixed blade I ever used was a muzzy 4 blade. Hated them cause they would not fly straight. Got a new set up this year and a guy gave me a 4 blade slick trick to try. That thing flys very straight. I killed two big bucks and 2 doe with them this year. Complete pass through and they did not run further than 40 yards! My buddy tried them and it would not work well. The difference between us was that I had my arrows fletched with 2 inch blazer at 3 degree right helicle and he had 4 inch vanes at slight right. Need to research vanes. I will never use anything but a blazer vane. Only other fixed blade I have tried is the montec. It flies straight too but makes a slight wizzing noise. I will try other fixed blades but will have rage and slick trick in my quiver for next year!

I read a lot of good things about expandables, but everybody I personally know that uses them has had troubles. Moving parts just means more can go wrong.
I shoot 4 blade Muzzy's, have for over a decade. They fly great for me, love the practice blades that come with them, and they kill deer. If you get off on the shot they've always blown through bone for me, too. From 5 yards on sika to 50 yards on mulies, I won't shoot anything else.

I'm with you Osprey. I've been shooting 90 gr. 4 blade muzzy's for 10 plus years. I tried expandibles once & hit a deer where I was aiming, only to have the arrow penetrate 2 or 3 inches. Took those things off & put Muzzy's on & haven't looked back.
