Hey guys, just wanted to start generating a bit of interest. I and the group of guys I build flintlocks with have started a gun that's going to be raffled off to benefit our Choptank Muzzleloading club and range. Probably be 6 months to a year before it's done, and several months before I even have ticket information, but somebody is going to walk away with one heck of a gun worth a few thousand bucks. Going to be Beck style Lebanon longrifle, .50 caliber, wire inlay, carving, engraving, great for the range or the woods. There's about 10 of us in the gun building group, everybody has signed up for the things they're best at so this should be a top notch flinter. Stay tuned for details when I get them, maybe even a few pics as the build progresses over the winter... Dave

Gun is progressing nicely, should be done in a month or two I think. Haven't been to the building group in a few weeks, but last I checked all that was left to do was barrel browning, stock stain and finish and engraving. Very nice, light hunting rifle. I'll let you guys know when we start selling tickets. I think the goal is to have the gun and tix ready by the waterfowl festival, we normally have a table at the gun show in the ice rink on Rt 50 that weekend.

Saw the gun this week, almost done. A bit of engraving on the patchbox and a few srews and pins to brown and it will be done. Turned out very nice, should be able to get some pics in a few weeks...

Okay, two ways for you guys to get tickets. You can call our treasurer, Chuck Pittinger, and arrange mailing payment to him at 410-479-3449, or you can PM me on here and I'll give you my address to send a check or money order.
We'll have the gun and tix at the National Outdoor Show in Golden Hill, Dorchester on the last weekend of February, too, if you're down our way that weekend.

I am pleased to say that out of just over 500 tickets sold, I sold the winning ticket through a website! Sadly, not this website. It was on the other site I post on, AmericanLongrifles.org, to a guy in Georgia! Sorry Fox, no flinty lock for you. Although I do know a guy where you could commision your own cutsom rifle for the right price...

Dave, the fine print on the back of my raffle ticket said that conciliatory flintlocks would be given out to non-winners as a thanks for purchasing tickets? Yes??? No?....just checking. ;-)

Ohhh, that fine print. You read that wrong, it said conciliatory FLINTS. I've got a box of old used ones here with dull edges, just let me know when you want to pick up yours. Thanks again to everyone who bought tickets, we'll probably have another for raffle in a year or two.
