My Uncle, a friend of ours and I went hunting today over in Blackwater and tore them up. We shot 5 greenheads, 3 mallard hens, 2 pintail drakes, 1 pintail hen, and a black duck. We tried a new stategy today with mojos and it worked perfectly. Birds were dropping out of the sky trying to sit down in our spread.

thats cool, yeah our place is just past the bridge on the left. There wasn't a lot of shooting at all Saturday, wasn't a lot of birds but it seemed like 75% of the birds we did see came in.

Yea we hunt the public marsh right behind our property and most that we saw didnt even come close. except on saturday morning when we first got out there we were setting the decoys and none of us had guns loaded thats when they were all flying. lol then on sunday on the way home the roads were flooded and i saw about 10 blacks in the road. lol where do you hunt at? cause i havnt seen many pintails down there!! just blacks and teal.

we hunt the public land. My uncle is down there usually every Friday and Saturday and he took all his pintail decoys out of the boat and replaced with mallards cuase he hadn't seen any pintails either. It was crazy we had 3 come in and a pair not too long after that.

Thats good to hear!! hopefully next year when i go i can see some!! the ducks got alot smarter over this season!! cause i went opening day this year and got 3 teal a black and a mallard drake and they came right into the decoys. but last week and the week before they would circle about 3 or 4 times and if they didnt like one thing they were gone!! they also have been flying real high lately too. Do you hunt down there much or is it mainly just your uncle??

DB, I certainly won't post that info here, but I will say this. The spots are obvious, in addition the ducking there isn't that great. Not trying to lead you away from a hotspot (if so I wouldn't say anything). I used to hunt there all the time, b/c I liked the spot, but really hasn't been a whole lot in there the last 5 or so years compared to 10-15 years ago. Do some scouting and like anywhere, you'll kill a few ducks there.

Thanks bartman!! i am going down next weekend and am thinking of taking the boat to go out and try to find some possible spots for next year. like you said theres just not as many ducks as there used to be. has anyone noticed the marshland down there is getting smaller n smaller? behind my property there used to be all thick woods and in the last 3 years all the trees have just started dieing? my cabin is gonna be in the middle of the marsh in 10 years if this continues!! has anyone else noticed this??
