thinking about going on this saturday goose hunting. I am not a 100% sure and would like some input as to whether or not it would be worth trying to hunt a field that is covered in snow. I mean if the decoys are there will they come in? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Had a conversation this morning about similar situation. What if you put a brown tarp (simulate dirt) or green tarp (simulate grass) in a normal feeding area and place decoys in and around it . It sounds crazy but I`ve heard of weirder stuff that has worked. Repost if you give it a try. Any other comments ?

if you can plow the feild they will come in. My neighbor took his plow and just made a bunch of paths on the feild and the geese were stacked up in the paths the other day. I am sure you could get a few to just come into the snow feild though. but if you can clear some of the snow away you will be in alot better shape i think.

yea sounds good, i checked out duckhuntingchat.com and there was a similar post. The people on there said that they would just clear out a little section, either with a broom or shovel around there decoys and any bird flying around (if they saw the field) would just funnel right in. So.........looks like i am going to take a shovel with me on saturday and see how we do! I will post some results. Good luck and happy holidays to all!

I have had success in the snow, if you can it always seems better if you can get near an area with some grass or something sticking out of the snow.
I saw on a hunting show that you should use shells in the snow because Geese will lay down to melt the snow as soon as they land and then eat where the melted snow is. Haven't tried that theory out yet but it makes sense.

I'm late on this response. What a group of us did one year is took a 4wheeler out in the feild and basically did doughnuts in the field to break up the snow. Set decoys in this area, worked like a charm.
