Spent this morning early goose hunting on the Patuxent , first early goose hunting I`ve ever done. Instead of cold were more concerned about bugs ,they didn`t show lucky for us. A single goose was taken and considering the group I was with (2 of my sons ,2 friends with their ladies who were observing rather than hunting) I was proud that only 2 shots were fired . Everything was picked up ,put up and we were home by 9:00 .I`m thinking this is going to a good season. Had to add in the great retrieve by Drake, unfortunately Remi didn`t get to drag anything back to the blind although the boat dismount was a crowd pleaser.

my friend and I hunted on the upper potomac above point of rocks. The opener lasted about 20 minutes. He took a single and I took two out of a flock of seven or eight. I was home by 0830.

Congrats guys!! Did not make it out! Saving up my grace days for deer huntin! I am hoping to do some late season down in nanjemoy. Have a swamp where geese fly into in the mornings. Then I can stock for muzzleloader. I am going to do some crazy still hunting then!

Went dove hunting yesterday on the opener and nearly melted the barrel off my gun. Took my 6 year old son with me and kept him very busy picking up dead birds. He loves it. Not only does he like retrieving he also picks up all my empty casings! What more can a dad ask for. Shortly after we were picking up we had about 75 geese come to the field we were hunting on. Were gonna save them for one evening this week! Was a great start to this years huntin season.
