If you do any amount of blackpowder shooting the cleaning supplies can add up fast over a few range sessions, so I thought I'd pass along the recipe for Moose Milk. Excellent barrel cleaner for after shooting, or for wet patch swabbing between shots. I keep a spray bottle with me now in the range box, plus a small container of pre-moistened patches (made from old T-shirts) in the hunting bag. It'll work great on kitchen floors and sinks, too, but don't ask how I know that... ooops. Moose Milk (aka Moose Snot or Moose Juice) 1 oz Water Soluble Oil 1 oz Lestoil 2 oz Peroxide 20 oz Water 2 oz Alcohol

Dave, what is water soluble oil? I thought that by definition oil wouldn't go into water. I know you can emulsify it, but I haven't heard of this product. Looks like a nice recipe. I had a friend in college who made something similar and it worked great on my gun.

Maybe Murphy's? I've seen it used in other recipes.
I'm still one of those hard headed fools that uses LOTS of HOT water, and elbow grease!

Bart, I'm not sure of the trade name, but it's used in metal working a lot. I got a small jug from one of the guys I build guns with, I'll try and get you a brand name. It is water soluble, not sure of the formulation, but it stays mixed with the water solution and doesn't float to the top like oil normally would. Ask at a good auto parts store and they can probably get you some. Another of our guys works with metal and welding for a living, he gets it in 55 gallon drums at work. Any machinist's on here, those guys would know?
