So.....I decided to go around around the lake at Gilbert Run yesterday afternoon. I had in mind that I may see a bit of fowl around, you know the occasional flock of a dozen geese and some random pairs of mallards. I had seen quite a few mallards in the back part of the lake where the little bridge goes across the marshy area. So I get around to where the dam is and there were probably a couple dozen geese just hanging out on the top part of it, and of course I had to run through the middle of them to get where I was going. So I start getting close and a goose hisses at me! I look down, it was banded! So was the one next to it! Holy crap! So as I made my way through the rest of the geese, there were probably 6 or 8 more that had bands on them! Was this just an odd occasion this many banded birds hanging together? or were they banded locally and just hung around? What do you guys think?

Maybe they were banded there as young ones and just havn't migrated. If we catch a few we can read the bands and compare.

Might be resident geese banded as nuisance geese. I killed one few years back and was banded for that reason, which is probably why they were not scared. They know they are safe there.
