Well after two days of phone calls and e-mails this has turned out to be not much more than a good lesson of how not to deal with newspaper people. Add together a research team that didn't really know why I was coming, a student (who seems to be a good guy) who unfortunately hasn't talked to many press people and said the wrong things the wrong way, and at least one biologist who told me just enough to make it sound like something very nefarious was going on and we got a hectic few days of trying to figure it all out. Thankfully after talking to the wildilfe/DNR guys and a few of the people at UDEL it was all just a mix-up. Dr. in charge of the research proved to be a nice fella when I talked with him, explained everything and is anxious to have more coverage as the research proceeds.
Glad this is straight, was worried something was going on that would jeapordize the research. Stonewall a reporter and make him think there's something you don't want him to find out and he'll just dig harder.

I agree, glad to see someone is out there looking out for our interests! OUR interests? HIS interests! Osprey is sticking GPS transponders up their butts (the DEER) when no one is looking. Then he can walk right to them come deer season. ;D
