When I actually used to fish FOR carp, I used yellow corn for bait. And chum if in a pond. Works GREAT! A couple years ago, I worked a few days with an Englishman who was a carp fanatic! Over there, they don't have much else to catch, and carp fishing has become their Bassmasters! Guys make a living fishing for carp. They use " boilies" and hair rigs. They use very specialized equipment. The carp geta lot of pressure and get smart QUICK! All catch and release over there. We were working up at Conowingo Dam, and when he saw a guy dragging a rope stringer of carp across the pavement, I thought he was going to cry! After he went back to England, I sent him email links to a couple carp/bowfishing sites. Nice, bloody pics. He called me a "F'ing Colonial savage!" Search for "Oatmeal Jack" and see if his website is still up. (Couldn't find it directly, but looks to be linked here:) www.msu.edu/~connert/carp.htmCarp are a lot of fun. Big,strong, and abundant. (The Englishman sent me some pics of a few wels he caught. Now THAT is a big fish!)

Out in the Potomac near Marshall Hall for that carp. If you were after them, you may be better off in a creek though.

Thanks guys! I used to fish for them up in PA. It would be an overnight thing where five or six of us would get to the pay lakes at about 5pm and fish the three large ponds until 5 the next morning!! We would use home made doughballs. Recipe died with my grandma that is why I was wondering what you all used.

Here's how I catch my carp..........with an arrow! This one is from last year but I will soon again bury an arrow deep into a spawning pile of carp. During the spawn, for every one I hit, I must have missed 10. Thats why bowfishing is my favorite right behind deer hunting.

My buddy Frank caught this bedding beauty at our favorite pond in Dorchester. Weighed in at 5lb 1oz. Could not see the fish on the beds but we can see them running off other fish. Took a while to piss it off so it would eat it but it was worth it. Had a lot of fun fishing tonight. A grand total of 23 fish and three over 3lbs.

My dad gets to come down here about two times a year to fish with me. It is the only time he gets a chance to fish. He did really well last weekend by landing this 4lb 5oz largemouth and 15 others for the weekend! I was able to land this 4lb 1oz bass. My dad and I caught the same exact amount of fish for the weekend. We always have competitions for first bass, largest, and last bass of the weekend. I only won the last bass!

Nice fish Brett! And like my dad always tells me, "Boy I may have taught you everything you know, but I haven't taught you everything I know!"
