Help PLEASE?!!!? My new plot for clover after this last rain has prodused some amazing grass/weed about a foot tall clover is still coming in ok but only 4-6 inches tall. Do I need to mow it down to 4-6 inches so the clover has a chance or just let it go? ??

The Whitetail Institute , whitetail clover people Ray Scott & sons make 2 products "Slay" for broadleaf weeds and "Arrest" for grasses. They sell it at Dick`s in Waldorf or they used to .I`d spray your plot with Arrest see how it looks and then figure whether to spend the additional money on Slay. The stuff works we have a 5+ - year plot of clover and although we have some weeds we have good clover and the deer eat it to the ground every winter.I have as much fun growing our plot as I do hunting ......Well almost. good luck and keep us posted deerehunter

Read the label before you buy it .I know it doesn`t hurt whitetail clover check out their website I think it`s www.whitetailinstitute.com as with all their stuff its a little expensive at first but the money you save not doing again and again is worth alot to me .My son is on a groundhog extermination mission and he has seen multiple deer in our plot everytime he has been out. no antlers yet though

Busco, you should mow your plot so that the grass/weeds do not get too much taller than the clover. By doing so, the clover can effectively compete for sunlight. I usually mow my clover plots several times each summer.

I have also read that it is good to mow the clover once in a while because as it begins to go to flower the protein content decreases (providing less nutritional value) and the plants are much less tender (and less appealing to the deer) than if you mow it once in a while.
