Just wondering as I am going to give it my first try of the year tomorrow. Heading out to the Wicomico in the morning (can't touch the water though). I'll let you guys know if I have any luck.

Heard it's starting to pick up there.Last year, had a good, early run up above, then it shut down, for a while. I usually don't start hitting it hard until late July, then right on thru September, but think I'm going to have to get after them pretty soon

Try True-Value I got our`s from Solomons last year I think the crabs have a better taste by using this system....I have a huge cooker that does a bushel but like the 2 piece blue porcelain much better Good Luckl

Thanks, i will check True-Value, the crabs do taste alot better, now just try to keep all the claws from falling off. an old timer told me to set the crabs in the fridge for a hour or so and they won't fall off, dosn't chnage the taste but looks better on the table.

We always stick 'em with an ice pick just as we put 'em in the pot. Slide it in the backfin joint up toward the eyes with a quick snap, keeps them from fighting and losing any claws. Took me 15 minutes to get a bushel yesterday! That's all it took to drive down the road and pick 'em up from the seller.

Try this. I take the last five or six on the top of the pot and Florida cook them. I pull the top of the shell off while thier still alive on then throw old bay salt mix on them and steam as normal. The meat really soaks up the flavor. Its a pain with them trying to pinch and all so I only do a few.
