Here's one of my girl Evy almost 7 years ago, I think it was the first few days I brought her home when she was 7-8 weeks old. My boot barely fits under that railing, she was TINY! I was living in the hunting shack then, what a great start for a retriever. I've got some awesome puppy pics of her, but they are mostly prints, not digital. Here's one of her this season.

Here's another puppy pic. She went everywhere with me that summer. Starting her field explorations... ...and now, bringing home the birds!

I didn't start huntin' waterfowl until my parents bought a place in VA with a creek on it a two years ago. My ol' boy (8 years now) is the man at finding balls and bumpers but has little experience in the field. The creek is a mud bucket when the tide is low and, as a result, he didn't retrieve either of the ducks in the pic below. In both instances he went out and got close but said screw the muck!! I was a rookie at the time too; good thing we invited out buddy on the right as he was the only one with waders! He's one of the funniest and playful dogs I've ever known. Listens like a champ and aims to please. Do I sound biased?? Our first black ducks in VA...good times. The Mud bucket at high tide. At home down by the pond.

Pretty little spot Fever, you shoot any woodies there? Certainly looks like a good wood duck spot, at least during early splits.

I actually saw 6 (3 pairs of m & f) two weekends ago. We've built some wood duck boxes are are putting them up next weekend. Should keep em' in there for next year. Not to mention, perhaps next year we'll have 12+ woodies.....
The pond pic is from the farm I grew up on in southern Charles Co. We had 12 mallards in there for a couple weeks back during deer season. But, we don't hunt em' there. It's nice scenery for my mom and aunt.
