I found this nice shed on a bank next to a swamp on May 9, 2005. A few minutes later, I got this little Jake all fired up. I had been out all day and pulled the trigger at 11:55!!!!!! After the shot, the Jake ran into the swamp explaining why he looks like a drowned chicken! I was just as excited to find such a nice shed on state land as I was to have killed the turkey.

That looks cool, sounds like a great morning. Not to get specific, but was that on the Shore or elsewhere?

Nice bird. Did you mount him or do a tail mount? I have made tail mounts of the two birds I have shot. Made the plaques out of rough cut oak and spread the fan and salted.

I like the plaques you made. I did do a tail mount but it is in my attic! I will take a pic of that and post it. My sweet wife keeps my balls in her purse and only allows me to hang my mounts in the office. The first year we were together, she threw out a 10” Tom beard and a 5" Jake beard I had soaking in salt in a plastic bag in my car. I had just moved explaining why it was in my car. The neat freak was cleaning my car and thought it was garbage!!!!!!!!!! I still married her though! I also have two fully mounted gobblers in my office. I will start a turkey mount thread in the Turkey Fever section and post those.

Sorry about your balls dude. Can tell I'm single, in my house (not counting what's down at the hunting shack) I have 3 mulie heads, 3 whitetail heads, 2 sika heads, 4 turkey fans, 1 full body gobbler, 1 bear, 1 grouse + another fan, 7 ducks, a snow goose and various and sundry antlers and skulls. Oh yeah, a Merriam's fan is still in the freezer, gonna use that on one of those new B-Mobile decoys. ;D

I shot a Canadian Goose this year & my old lady (not married, but I live with her) asked me to get it mounted for her! Also convinced me to get the sika deer I shot mounted, but she wanted me to get a full body mount. Too much $$ though & no were to really put something that big. She also cooks me venison for dinner (and eats it herself)!!!!!!
