Gotten very cold here this week. Wednesday night it was 14 below zero, 30mph winds and snow. Never much snow here, and when it blows it mixes with the red dirt/dust and makes this special stuff they call snirt.

Buckmaster and I got a call on Monday evening from one of our hunting buddies telling us that we "have to come see this deer". We did, and our jaws droped when we arrived. It is without a doubt the biggest deer either one of us have ever seen!

Were you not hunting when you got all of the pics? Some of them seem to be somewhat close.

Awesome pics Osprey. Is that a high fence or low fence outfitter? How may acres was it and have you seen any turkeys? Probably be a week till you get back to town so I'll wait till then to hear from you.

I'll try to answer for him because he only comes to town to use the computer like once a week. Osprey is the ultimate hunter, after hunting sika deer and whitetail, he gets to North Dokata every year and work as a camp chef. He gets to also go and hunt this boys, what a job benefit huh. He has taken some monsters already and takes pictures of the ones he doesn't want to shoot while waiting for another pope and young. Every hunters dream!

Hardcore has the details pretty close, although he's making me blush... ;D All of the photos are taken where we hunt, primarily from the truck or while glassing, plus I've got a good zoom lens on the digital. I've killed some big ones so these are all deer I'm passing/not going after, the really big ones there aren't photos cause I'm trying to figure out which blind to jump in or how to stalk! 14,000 acres on this ranch, bow only for over 12 years. There is buffalo fence around most of it but the deer and elk go in and out, plenty of duck unders and spots we've opened it since they don't run buffalo on it anymore. Tons of turkeys, just got to get time to go sit on them a few mornings. Was going to today, but it was -16 this morning and I had to make a run to town today to bring a hunter back to the airport. I'll be home a few days before Christmas - ready for ducks and blackpowder sika.

Nice pics Dave! Be nice if it got that cold back here. Be nice to walk the marsh if it was frozen hard.

Well, I'm finally back in old MD, got in late Wednesday night. Bit of a culture shock after a month and a half out west though! Got my gobbler out there, and got my Dad his mulie finally, but no shooters for me. Passed on tons of small and medium mulies and whitetails, but no big boys stood for a shot this year. I did see 'em, just being real picky, wanting as big or bigger than what I've already got on the wall. Had a blast though!
Now it's on to ducks and back to sika, maybe even get on the big whitetail I've still got running around the home farm. Merry Christmas everybody, I'll post some more pics as I get them loaded.
