Don't understand why Fox has such a problem seeing sika, I went tonight and saw at least 25, stopped counting after that. ;D Some may have been the same deer moving back and forth, but at least 5 were decent stags, most were spikes. No monsters, and took no shots, biggest I had close for a good shot was a 3 point with 12" tines and one 2" front hook. They were seriously chasing tonight!

Big fox must just have NO MOJO! I put him where I saw plenty last time, passing off what I know is a good spot for the unknown. After dropping him off in the a.m. I was brushed off of 3 spots by flashlights but still managed to see 5, One of which I could have shot, but I already filled my hind tag. Did get some pics of her though. That evening saw 2 more & had them all around me at dark, but couldn't make them out through the tall grass.
POOR FOX! Your bound to get one one day (or year).

Bow hunted 'em last evening, turned out to be a wierd night. Thought it was going to be great, tide across the marsh, cold front pushing through, 4 days of rain just ending, etc. No bugles, had them running through the phrag and water the last half hour where I couldn't see them, but only one came out just at last light, small deer under the stand. Either they are a bit spooked in that spot since I've hunted it twice this season, or they were staying in cover since they made so much noise splashing through the tide. Pretty night in the woods though!
Scouted out shotgun spots at Blackwater this morning, jumped one in the thickets, saw one small stag out in a field at sunrise. Surprisingly enough there was a red fox running around it, maybe that is a good sign for the sikaless Shrek. ;D

Seriously, there was a red fox in the field right next to the stag, may be a good sign for you. And don't pick on your guide, that's never good karma.

well I am getting excited. I have a buddy that owns land down by BW so I am thinking I may go down a day or two early and hunt with them. Got a new gun I need to put the hammer to something... I think it will be a good hunt either way. while I am a little sick of going down there and not seeing anything, that will not stop me from going down there until I do......

Did some scouting of my own yesterday at BW. Checked out three spots. Managed to jump two hinds and found some fresh wallows. I figured the high winds would keep the skeeters off, but they were thick. I thinking they've been waiting all season to breed and with this extra rain they really took off. Surprisingly didn't see anyone else out scouting. Found some good spots, just not sure how interested I am in dragging one that far.

C'mon Bart, even a big stag don't weigh more than a full sack of corn. That new wife sapping your strength and will to live already!?!?!
And it's the tides that brought the skeeters, these rains are too late in the year to do much unless we get a long warm spell...
