Can't be mixing this important topic in amongst those stupid whitetails, had to start a new thread. ;D
Evening hunt today, NNE 10 mph, mid 70's, saw 5 sika total (3 doe and fawn together, one single small stag???) but they were all 1/4 mile away out on the marsh, feeding in the Sp. patens. No bugles heard.

Just a new guy here from the Eastern Shore. I just started hunting the sika's this year. Have been out three times. First a.m. hunt, saw a hind and calf, about 150 yds. in marsh. Second day, P.M. hunt, none seen. Third day, p.m. hunt. Wind was howling bad from NW, nearly blew me out of the Pine I was in. Saw first Hind at 5:30. Two more half-hour later. Had the fourth, a small calf walk 20 yds from me and the fifth come out around 6:30. No antlers seen. Had the largest Hind of the evening present a shot at 12 yds and I dropped her with a spine shot. I was soo excited to get one of those elusive sikas!! All hunts were in Fishing Bay public land locations. Looking to go over to Blackwater for the first time sometime next week to look for those large Stags I keep reading/hearing about. Anybody go down there on Sat.?? Any scouting reports?

Went out on Sat. didn't see anything, but heard 3 seperate ones bugleing at dark. The time is upon us. BTW, they were really on the move Sat. morning before legal. I was on my way to duck hunt and we had to swerve to miss them 5 different times. Most I remember in a while.

Moon just came off full late last week, that's part of it Bart. But I've seen 'em moving very early in the afternoon lately, too.

Went to Blackwater with my brother last night. Bugles from every direction. I Saw 4 hinds, no horns seen till driving down road after dark and saw a large Spike hot on a hind. They are heating up right now!!! Scrapes everywhere!! My brother said the phrags where moving all over, he said it sounded like there was a stag chasing a hind in there but they never came out so he doesn't know for sure. I'm heading back asap to get back into the action!!!

I hope to see anything at this point.. i am excited to get back in the marshes and hope to see one of those little brown delites... very optomistic but extremely excited..... look forward to a sika hunt with the DEER HUNTER and his golden horseshoe stuck firmly in a bad place.. hope a little of that luck rubs off on my bow...
