Has anyone been using scent here in the last couple of days? Are you getting any response? Little bucks are nosing around does and chasing them a bit a sure sign of prerut in my area. I still think its to early for doe in heat. I have been messing with this buck torsil and buck in rut scent from down wind scents but I haven't had any luck or should I say interest. I am still trying to fill another anterless tag so that I am good to go for 2 bucks with a bow. I am not sure weather it is to late for that tag. I would hate to shoot a doe not knowing if some big boy may be trailing her a few yards back. I also feel that the scent thing may hurt my chance at filling another bow tag right now as well. Anyone have any input.

The scent for me are hit or miss. Sometimes they come in to the scent but probably would have come in anyway. The doe-in-heat is going to keep does away because they don't want to be around a doe thats attracting bucks. Thats why they run away from the bucks at first. I personally believe to wait on the does right now. The buck could be on her trail 5 minutes behind. I guess if its almost last light you have nothing to lose but if theres alot of light left, I'd let it play out.

I have had mixed results with scents in general. As far as this time of year goes, you never know when that buck will be on the trail of a doe, hoping she is ready for him. But as you said, if it is about to get dark & you have nothing to lose, go for it.

I have had a mix bag of success and failure with different brands and combinations of scent i put out. I live on a couple hundred acre farm right outside of Laplata and have a large field around 2-3 acres right next to my house, it is surrounded by woods so i get deer coming in from all directions at different times. i have had the best success with some scents i purchase at a sporting goods store located on route 260 close to route 4 in Calvert County. they buy it straight from a collector locally. the containers they come in would make you think your buying some gimmick product but the deer respond much better then the store bought stuff. I've harvested 2 nice bucks this year both were eights one had an additional kicker about two inches long so i guess you could call him a nine? they were both killed in prime rut time 8th and 14th November, they both responded to the scent I put out.

I have found that if you find something that works, stick with it. The scent that works today might not interest anything tomorrow. I'd like to see some pics of your deer. Congrats, I'm still waiting for mine to come around. What is the name of the scent? Might give it a try next year.

Hardcorehunter I'm with you, one day good next bad. But I have come to like that CODE BLUE. If they could just make it in a foam. The foam stuff last a lot longer. And not as messy
