I will start the product reviews thread with a review of my summit 180 treestand. I have owned many treestands in my years of hunting, portable, ladders, and many climbers, the summit 180 tops them ALL. It's one of the easiest and quietest stands to set-up and climb and with all the accessories that you can add to it you feel like your hunting from your favorite couch.

This will be a great addition. I always like to gather info before I buy new equipment. I am hoping that after this weekend I will have met my challenge and can get a tree stand.

I've got the Summit Viper XL, it's a few years old and resembles that one except your back is to the tree. I love it, best stand I've owned. I mainly use it for sika hunting and the two piece climbing is great for getting up those straight pine trees.

I use a summit 180 as well. BuckMaster didn't mention that the default for this stand is facing away from the tree, but you can face toward it as well. It is the most comfortable stand that I have ever used.

I have two of these one viper and the older bullett backpacker. best stand I have ever owned. With a bad back these things make it easy to sit all day or should I say sleep all day find it hard to stay awake there so comfortable for me. I don't like there new design on the arms for the upper and lower and the new foot thingey setup bought another bullet last year when the change came out and sold it to a friend lost the bottom the second time I used it and had a hell of a time pulling it up. other than that there great stands

Summit has my vote for producing the best climber's out there. I've had my Broadhead Backpacker for three years now and love it. I can sit all day in that thing and it makes backpacking deep into the state lands where I hunt a lot easier. Folds down nice and sets up quick and quiet. You can also set it up and take it down with heavy gloves on. (This is important on those northern hunts!)

I prefer to stand while bow hunting out of a portable, would you recommend the summit 180 for this style hunting? Can you change sitting directions while hunting out of this stand? If so, can it be done quietly and quickly?

Even though this is a great stand to sit in I stand about 95% of the time in any stand. I just don't feel comfortable siting while hunting. I always like to be in the ready position. Leaning on a tree is ALWAYS more comfortable than sitting in a chair at work! ;D
I recommend it very much. You can change the position while in stand its quick and easy

Thanks, for the info. I still hunt out of an older V-bar climber stand, just the basic model with no frills. I'm 48 now and am looking for something a little more comfortable for that all day hunt. This one sounds like it might be the one I get for next season. Your right about leaning against a tree, I'd rather be doing that than working any day.

I bought the Summit 180 on Monday and hunted out of it on Tuesday. I have to say they've sure made these new stands comfortable. I got to take a short nap in this thing around 2:30pm. Getting up at 4am and driving 2 hours to Nanjemoy to hunt for the day takes its toll on an old man. Making the switch to this stand is going to take a little getting used to but I think it will be well worth it. This stand is very comfortable and if your comfortable you stay longer, sit still and sit quieter. When sitting facing away from the tree you can stand and flip the seat up and stand against the tree, it's perfect. I'm sure this stand is going to work out well for me. I would recommend it highly. I also ordered "The Equalizer" but it's on back order so I won't receive it until the end of January. I'll probably use it to observe deer in the off season before hunting out of it and make recommendations after that. It looks like a great concept on the videos but we'll see.

Rommell,
I use the same stand and like it very much. This year I purchased a blind that goes around the whole thing & am VERY impressed with it. You feel completely concealed when using the thing.

I'll have to look into that blind attachment that sounds like it would be great. I just built a ladder stand (40" x 40")and put four walls on it and I love it, it keeps the wind off and you can get away with alot more movement.

Thanks for the info and the link attachment for the blind. I checked it out at Cabela's and of course their out of stock but I'll shop around and I'm sure I'll locate one. Thanks for hooking Sparky and I up with the great looking shirts and stickers, we love the logo!
