cbass1465 and deer hunter congrats on the sika kills. I missed the only one I have ever seen last year. This will be my third season trying. I'm feeling pretty good about this season.

I've seen it at Blackwater during the gun hunt. Guys get doing drives with buckshot and bring in 8 and 9 pounders, carry them in by all four feet like a loaf of bread!

I saw one on the way in that would classified as a "single digit sika"... It stood about knee high (to it's back) and was about 2 feet long, nose to tail. As I was walking down the trail on the way back to my truck, I guess it was doing the same. I got about 10 feet from it & it just stared at me. I would walk a bit closer & it would move a couple of FEET. That's it - they seem to be quite the curious animal, at least at that age.

Daveb, that is hillarius!! Deerhunter, nice pics, I need to take a picture lesson from you. I just took some yesterday of my sika, your pics are much better. That is a nice sika, don't let anyone tell you otherwise! Was she already that dark or is that the side you dragged her out on. The one I shot was real red still with a lot of spots. The side I drug her out of the woods on scraped off the red hairs and she was real dark brown underneath without the spots, is that normal colorations? I heard that they are reddish in summer and dark brown in late fall/winter?? Mine weighed in at 47.5 lbs and she was the biggest deer I saw that night, the others were half or less her size. My whitetail buddies were giving me crap about her size until one of them shot a whitetail on Sat. a.m. that weighed in at 37 lbs, that got them off my back. Heading to blackwater next week, anyone else going??
