My mom has a little herb garden in the backyard. My favorite is Basil... Try this: 1. A nice handful of Basil 2. Two fresh tomatoes sliced 3. Some fresh Mozzarella cheese 4. Drizzled with olive oil and a pinch of salt and pepper Don't look at me funny now you guys started this thread.... ;D ;D

I think I might try some of the cherry tomatoes and a few different kinds of peppers. I use them so often in cooking, it just makes sense. Buckmaster, I dont know what to say...

I ate a habinero after a day of drinking and golfing, but mostly drinking. I thought I was going to die. And water only made the burning worse. Two days later is when the REAL burn happened if you know what I mean!

Chest high tomatoes?!?! Either that's some great soil or you're one short fella!! My tomatoes are looking good and all flowering, peppers have finally started growing now that we've got some good warm weather, lopes are spreading, cilantro is coming up fast. Put in 4 hills of pumpkins, too, that are looking good (guys at work and I started a biggest pumpkin contest this year!). Blueberries and first blackberries will be ripening soon and the blackcaps (Black raspberries) I transplanted last year have gone wild and are covered with small berries. Bring on some rain!

Those pumpkins will be a little early for Halloween... Putting some in a little later - maybe I'll have something to show you for your contest.

My tomatoes are flowering and I have about six little tomatoes on both plants. My sweet peppers are knee high but not really flowering much. The other pepper plant (forgot what kind) has a bunch of little peppers and flowers all over it. All of these are in flower pots. I'm still not sure how the tomatoes will turn out...

The garden is doing good, planted 2 lbs of peas and have put 31 (1 lb bags) in the freezer, radish and beets are about done, tomatoes are starting to come on only ate 3 so far but they are good. Any type of beans I've had the best luck planting them now until the 4th, the mid summer heat dosn't get to the bean and make them tough. Just planted green, yellow and lima's yesterday. sweet corn is starting to make ears and the deer are having there share. have had bad luck with green peppers, 1st planting died think frost got them and 2nd planting is just not growing. anybody else having problems with pepper plants??

Getting a few peppers, but some bug hit the plants pretty hard.
***For you pumpking growers: If you have little kids, try this. When the pumpkins are softball size, scratch BOO,HAPPY HALLOWEEN, a kid's name, whatever into it, lightly breaking the skin. I use a 16d nail,Leatherman, whatever I have. It'll seep a fewdays, then heal up.
When it's orange and ready, whatever you scratched in will be a big, tan, raised scar. I may tru eyes, nose, mouh on a few this season.
Little kids LOVE to see their name on them. 'course now they are all convinced it's MAGIC!

Peppers at my house are doing great now, but it was tough earlier. They like it HOT and we just haven't had the right temps. Still getting some nights down to upper 50's, low 60's, and they'll just sit there with those temps. I have it better than most because my pepper spot is full sun, well drained, 12" wide between a brick wall and blacktop that heats up like the devil. Nothing else will grow there, but hot peppers love it.
