I have not been out for a couple of weeks but from what I am hearing from everyone else, I would have to agree with you James.

I'm going to a new spot tonight. I'll be up a tree in less than an hour. Let you know how it goes.
..............................Well I'll add to this post. I found a great spot for squirrel hunting. LOL! I tried some agressive tactics tonight. Some doe in heat and tarsel scent. Medium to light rattling. Grunting and a bleat can. I didn't see nothin, maybe it was too much. After I lowered all my gear down, I did have a deer come out of a thicket and down in front of my stand. Too dark to see if it was a doe or buck, but at least it was a deer.

Saturday morning hunt, I saw three bucks. One at 6:30, 6:45 and 8:15. The first buck was a nice one, came in nose to the ground. About a twenty eight yard shot. Grunted to stop him. Wide open except a grape vine hanging from a tree, an to the left of his vitals. Released, heard a thud, watched him run stop and walk away. Saw my arrow sticking out of the grape vine. Arrow was five yards short of reaching him Next buck(smaller) came in the same as the first but walked away from my stand. The last one came in and stayed under my stand for twenty minutes. He had only one antler that had two points. Watched him and he never even looked up. Really exciting morning. Going to try again tomorrow.

Here in Charles County I have not yet seen bucks chasing does, but I only get out on Saturdays. I have seen lots of small bucks walking by pretty fast and it looks as though they are searching.

Same here in Frederick County (I only get out once or twice a week). The does I have seen don't seem to be concerned about anything and the small bucks seem to be out for a sunday stroll.

I hunted in Nanjemoy on Saturday and saw a couple of scapes and some small rubs. No deer seen while hunting but almost hit one with my truck on Riverside road on the way down to hunt at about 3pm on Friday.

There must be a early rut, the buck I shot on thursday was in rut kept his nose tight on the ground, and other bucks that were seen trailing does like in full rut.

I don't know. One of my brothers had 3 bucks come by together a week ago Saturday, and shot at the larget,a 8 pt that stopped in the ONLY place he could take a shot! THWACK! Then they all ran out of sight, then out of hearing. And at the shot, a 4th, bigger buck broke cover. So still running together in batchelor groups.
He gave it 1/2 hour, then found he had killed a 2" poplar that he hadn't seen.
He did kill a 12 pt Thursday with the ML that dressed a #186, so he's thinking he got deer # 4!

Any one seeing any chasing? Hearing reports of bucks chasing does and hearing reports of does walking around with no bucks in sight. Hearing reports of two bucks play fighting and traveling together. GUess it is different everywhere. WHat are you all seeing?

I took a ride around yesterday evening and saw 1 buck standing about 10 feet from a bedded doe STARING at her wouldnt look at me, passing cars other deer nothing. In a different spot i did see a young 6 chasing/harrassing about 4 does in a field. Id say the next 2 weeks should be fun.
