My brothers and friends went rock fishing last weekend in Virginia Beach and had there limit of 12 rocks in 1 1/2 hours. They said at one time 5 rods hit at once, all but one was over 40 inches!! I missed out on a great trip, no money. I,ll try to get some pics.

Awesome COOT, I went out with a buddy of mine on Friday morning, we did some trolling in the bay for a while with no luck, so we booked across to the Eastern shore side caught about 20 spot and went to do some live lining.. that was pretty cool except the blues kept eating the spot up, we eventually got 2 Rock on board over 21 inches. not bad for a quickie trip but had a lot of fun with that live lining rig.. pretty cool..... but congrats on your fish

Took the charterboat to Cove Point yesterday and had non-stop livelining action on fish 18-30". We had several multiple hookups with 3 and 4 fish on at a time. THe largest fish in the picture is 27.5". The 30"s we had to let go because we already had our limit. The hardest part was catching the spot we used for bait!

no monsters today but did catch a few nice keepers on the bay... blues are heating up and doing havoc on the umbrella rigs and spot during live lining,...

Hello fellows..
I bought an 90 horse 18' center console this past winter....I'm no expert...I took it out on taylors island this past weekend cause thats the only area i know...My questions are: Where is a good place to launch my boat on the west side of the bay? And all i caught this weekend was Croaker and Blues....How does one catch rockfish...I cant seem to catch any? I have no idea how to fish for them.
ANy tips would be appreciated.

we trolled unbrella rigs in the morning and caught lots of small rocks and 3 keepers as we went over bail fish piles... then we went and caught spot on blood worms and used them on live line rigs with a little success but the blues kept eating up the spot... Not sure about the area you are fishing but Point lookout by the gas docks is always pretty solid....

If you like the cast and reel method with light tackle nothing has worked better for me than Rapala X-Raps! I prefer the blue and silver color. Only went once last year and my buddy and I caught about 60 and the other guy was using everything in his tackle box and only caught 4/top water.

Cast lures? But where? I put the boat in at Slaughter creek..Little Choptank river..Then went out into the bay...Where does one begin to cast lures for Strippers? Its a big bay..open water...Do I look at changes of depths? How Do I find strippers in miles of open water?

To cast lures at them, I'd look for flocks of birds hitting the water. Tha generally means the fish are underneath pushing the bait up & the birds are feasting along with the fish.

We went to the mouth of the Patuxent river at the old light house also known as the rips. Don't know much about places to go cause I don't have my own boat but I tagged along and tore em up.
