Was going to try 'em this weekend, but the tides were wrong. Next weekend it looks perfect, think I'll see if they're in my favorite spots yet.

I like to fish the tail end of slack high, then the first half of the falling tide.Always seem to do much better. Some of my favorite perch holes are wear little guts empty into deep turns on small creeks.I think they wait there and wait for the minnows to "drop in " for dinner,as the guts drain as the tide falls. Even do better in bigger water then as well.

Dave nailed it, first hour or two that the tide starts ebbing, and mainly when that happens at dusk or dawn (high, overhead sun ruins the effect - the perch get too skittish in the shallower waters near shore, mainly becuase of the OTHER Ospreys!!). My best spots are guts that empty large pieces of salt marsh, they feed on everything that washes out with the tide - minnows, grass shrimp, etc. One of those spots empties over a sand bar, it's great fishing, but the tide has to be a good, high flood to make it best.

Pretty good morning today, fished from 6-8am, first real try at my home spots I like to fish. Couldn't get on the mack daddy, but lots of fish and great quality. I use a 5 1/2' ultralight with a spinner/jig, no bait, and they were steady bending the rod. The cleaning platform is 2x6"s for reference, biggest was just over 11". I"ll hang a few 13-14 inchers before the summer is over...

Did you use bait on that 12 1/2' perch? That's a two inch deduction ya know?!?!
