Had an AWESOME evening & didn't even shoot. Saw a total of 12 different bucks. 1 of whom was going to come home with me if he would have come running to my grunt call just a bit earlier. Heard several grunting, heard two going at it in the distance, and had several small bucks come within range. Got really excited when a spike that chased off 2 doe stared into the woods & began to run. Turned out only to be a young 6 pointer that chased him off. Saw 5 or 6 doe and 12 bucks in all. Watched deer from 4:15 until 6:30 - got down real quiet so I wouldn't scare the ones around me away. Was real close to shooting an eight pointer, but decided to give him another year. Can't wait to get out there in the am!

Went to a new property tonight. I will begin by saying that it was the best hunt I ever had..... without shooting and killing a deer. Was looking into a beautiful swamp that was low on water, obviously. About 4:30, I hit my bleat and I looked up and immediately saw a deer jump across a log. My buddy texted me and all it said was Monster buck! I looked over and he was standing with his bow in his hand. I stood and didn't see anything for ten minutes. All of a sudden there he was. He was 80-100yds and I could see 10pts easily. His spread had to be 24". I thought he was coming to me but he circled for about an hour. Tried everything to get him in but he stayed. Saw a doe and figured he was tending her. There was a 4pt. that was really close the entire time. Finally the big boy was across the creek and in my guesstimation about 40 yards. I had a small window to shoot and decided not to. It was getting dark and Im thinking the 4pt. got too close. They both ended up back on the other side of the swamp. 2 fox came in and so I shot both of them cause locals were complaining about cats missing. Sorry for rambling. Just wanted to share. Any ideas how I could have gotten that big boy in? Combonation of calling and rattling?

I almost got one in yesterday with a combo of the 2. Saw him at about 125 yards out. Grunted & he turned. Did it again & he took a couple steps my way. Started rattling & he took off in a trot. Too bad it was so close to dark. About 50 yards out he headed into the woods, possibly to get downwind, but I never saw him again.

I got turned around in the am. Wound up a mile from my stand. Got to my stand late, and jumped three deer in the process. Sat on stand and didn't see anything and jumped a doe on the way out. Saw A LOT of fresh scrapes. I'll bring some poon juice and try again tomorrow afternoon.

Walked right into 15-20 turkeys under my stand this afternoon.Scattered everywhere. Then they came back towards dark, and their scratching drowned out ALL other sounds.

Was in Nanjemoy today with two friends. I let my friends hunt the swamp and they counted a total of 29 turkey's!! I could here em from my spot 125 yds away. Saw a lot of deer between the three of us but only one doe fell right at dark. It was not in estrus. Had kind of a powdery sweet smell on its scent glands. Saw no bucks chasing does. All together we saw three bucks but none in range or worth shooting at. Good luck the rest of the week!!

I went out yesterday for the sunday hunt, craziest day I've ever had hunting. I saw two lasrge bucks, one was a typical 8 and the other was a 12pt with split G2's and almost a perfectly symetrical rack. I also saw 7 does all of which couldn't stand still because the bucks were all over em. I just couldn't get a shot through the branches. If it had been muzzle loader season I would have had that 12, but that bowhunting for ya. Gonna try and get out every other day this week. Good luck to everyone.

Saw 5 bucks in Nanjemoy yesterday evening. noses to the ground, missed a nice one at 40 yrds. forgot my arm gaurd and my jacket was a little baggy and the string smacked it when I released but the shot would have been a double lung if the noise didnt scare the crap out of the buck. He dropped to spin around and go back where he came from. oh well, ill get one this week, theyre everywhere right now!!
