I was fortunate enough to travel up to Alaska last week with my wife. We had an awesome time and I loved everything about the place. We didn't get home until late Saturday night so I decided to sleep in and play with the kids first thing on Sunday. At 10 in the morning everyone headed off to church and I headed to the woods to try and fill my final tag albeit with low expectations. I knew I only had 2 hours as I told Mom I'd be back by 12:30 to take her out to lunch. First spot I went I hit the slate call (thanks Osprey) with a few clucks and yelps. A few minutes later I heard a gobble a few hundred yards away. After a few more calls I heard him again in still a ways out. I waited and was hitting some light purrs when I saw him coming around a bend. Just enough time for me to get my gun up. I ended up with my second 2-year old for the season (10" beard, 19lbs, 1/2" spurs) and I was happy to call it a day after a 15-minute hunt that I had low expectations for. Here some pics from Alaska. I also got to watch this at 20k feet above the tundra.
