How about some help with this area. I am going to try hunting it this year and was wondering if anyone had any input on the area for hunting.

Was a good place to hunt: Years ago, when it was first opened up. Guys I knew who used to hunt there gave up on it. My wife worked there 20 years ago, and the number and size of deer was incredible! A buddy used to patrol that area and told me that now days he rarely sees much there. I could be way off, but that's what I've heard.

I hunted it when it first opened to the public about 13 years ago, I used to live about 10 min. from there in Lanham. The employees have been allowed to hunt it for years and when it opened to the public they still had there own "employee only sections". I bow hunted it for a couple of years and took a nice nine point out of there. The rules used to be that you had to take a doe before you could take a buck. The property is flag taped out into sections and you get your own section to yourself so as not to mix hunters. You had to qualify with each of the different weapons that you wanted to hunt with. In each section they would allow 2-3 hunters so if one friend got a section he could take a friend or two with him as long as all were qualified. I haven't hunted there in about 11 years but from what I hear the rules are still the same. If you need some more info on this I can call a friend of mine who still lives in the old neighborhood and still hunts over there.
