I agree with Reed. The back enterance off bumpy oak is good. I'll walk the tracks and see two or three deer near the creek on the left. If your deer makes it across the tracks to the right and onto the farmers land he will not let you enter to get your deer. Know a guy who had that happen to him twice! One was a nice buck!

My uncle knows the owners of that land........... I think. He goes there shoots skeet with them. Bartman...Getting married? You could have done a bit more scouting on that date!

I have seen more than 4, but there is a lot of land there and if you dig around in the back you will see some deer.
Thanks for the heads up on the farmer across the tracks, Brett.

I'll be sitting in my ground blind in front of a pile of corn, in a little patch of woods near Boyds, MD (Mont. Co.). Or in a creek bottom at the edge of a corn field. Or maybe both ;D Boyds huh? Used to be great hunting till the hunt club ruined a big part of that area. I still hunt there but I see only 2% of the deer I used to. Its really sad to be honest. This year if I hear them useing slug guns during muzzle loader season I will be on the phone with authorities. Anyway opening day I will be set up along crop fields in an attemp to intersect some deer on there way to the fields up in liberty town.

If you are talking about the Potomac Hunt Club, that's who I got access from. One of the members has about 100 acres and she allows me and a couple of others access. I also have permission to hunt on some of the hunt club's property. Between those two I see a lot of deer. Last year there was a HUGE 8 point taken right above the hound kennels.

I haven't heard of the Buck Lodge Hunt Club, is it still in existance? The property I hunt is right off Old Buck Lodge rd. but I've never seen anyone near there.

I'll probably be burping the baby and changing diapers in the morning. Then in the afternoon might hunt in Frederick County. Gotta shoot some does to get on the farmer's good side.

I didnt hear nearly as many shots last year as in previous years. I hunt on white grounds so I think we are talking about the same property. It has atv trails all through the property. Years ago it used to be owned by rockville crushed stone. Last year during gun season I rode by the corn fields where the power line is and DNR had a couple guys laid out on the ground in cuffs. They were on the park side (which didnt used to be park). I think I know where the lady is that lets people hunt. Its on the corner right around the sharp bend and her drive goes down hill to the house?

That sounds about right. I hear guns shots now and again during the gun seasons but not many.

Mikevb,
Where do you hunt around Frederick. I've seen a lot of deer in the Monocacy Natural Wildlife Area (or whatever the heck they call it)>

That sounds about right. I hear guns shots now and again during the gun seasons but not many. If the buck lodge club is no longer there then that may be a good thing and hopefully the numbers start climbing again! I remember years ago I used to pass on deer every single day. Hunting that spot I have was very exciting!

I actually paid attention yesterday when I went out to set up my blind for Monday. The Buck Lodge Hunt Club sign is still there but like I said I don't hear much activity and last year I saw a lot of deer in that area.
When I set up my blind I found where I had left a mineral block at the end of last season. The deer had pounded a hole in the ground where it used to be, so I set another one out yesterday. We'll see what happens tomorrow.

We'll see what happens tomorrow. Yeah those guys are the ones that were doing all kinds of crazy illegal stuff. One guy even used a full auto assult rifle a couple times! I have been hunting in that area for over 15 years now and the last 3 years the deer population around there has dropped wayyyyyyy off from previous years because of those guys. I knew one guy in that club and he told me all the crazy stuff they did. I kind of lost respect for him. We spot light (its legal till 9) and years ago we would never ever spot less than 100+ deer on buck lodge and white grounds. Now we are lucky to see 5 or 10. I wish you hunted there years ago to know just how good that area used to be! I would see different deer all day long sitting in one spot. It was absolutely crazy to be honest. I still get deer there but I can go a couple days and not see anything which never used to happen. Now that the buck lodge guys are no longer there I think the population may start to increase again I hope! If you ever want somebody to shoot bows with let me know. Good luck this season!
