Was at the in laws house Saturday visiting family and one of the boys came in saying we should go hunt frogs at the pond.. So after cleaning the family out of thier cash playing cards we loaded up the truck withthe kids, a couple cousins, and my frog expert buddy Andy and headed out to the pond. As soon as the truck cut off you could hear the delicious music being sang by the bull frogs.. 5 or 6 trips around the pond and we had approximately 25 nice eaters in the bucket.. My buddy Andy gave us all a lesson on cleaning and skinning and I was off to cook them up.. Never cooked frogs legs up so after a good rise off I threw on some old bay, garlic salt, black pepper and crush red pepper, diced up and onion and got it cooked up in some olive oil.. Threw in the legs and slow cooked them a while.. After I deemed them cooked we dove in and WOW they were fantastic.. I could not believe it... Could not talk the girls into trying them but found a new critter to hunt and delicious treat... BIG bonus is the kids freaking LOVE going after them and had a blast hand grabbing out of the pond edges.. What a good time...

That is awesome! Did you only eat the legs? Is that the only part you can eat?

Poor frogs.......
Now that FOX knows about hunting and eating them, they're gonna be extinct in Southern Maryland. ;D

yeah... only the legs. I mean you can eat the rest Brett, but good luck with that.. :-O
They are tasty! I remember eating them in Florida whenever we'd visit the grandparents. How did he skin 'em? I just remember making a small cut above the butt, peeling the skin back and then cutin the legs off at the body...
Anyway works...but breaded and fried, or naked with some buffalo sauce...yummy!

Never had them, but they're supposed to be very good. I sure wouldn't want to be any sort of critter near Big Fox at dinnertime, that's for sure.

I spoke with DNR on the phone today.. You CANNOT use any means to harvest frogs that pierces their skin.. So no gigs, arrows, pellet guns, 12 gauges.. NADDA.. Basically the only legal means is by hand or net.. I guess once you have captured them dispatching them is up to you.. I found blunt force trama works well... So there you have it..

I have heard from various people they are better fried but I liked them just fine this way.. next batch is hitting some seasoned flour and grease..
