I'd say now is a good time to start. you can count on pretty much all antlers dropped by end of march. went out this morning and found a small 2 point shed and a nice side of an 8pt. gonna wait till end of march before i hit the honey holes but not sure of where to go i've always walked private land mainly hardwoods found the biggest majority in really thick cover guesss that helps knock em off. Good Luck!

I need a lesson in finding them. I have tried in years past but never had much luck.

Maybe Osprey could have a Antler Retrieval Seminar after the three semester Turkey Course

Fox is gonna need a second job to pay all this tuition!
I"m not starting yet for a few weeks, still seeing a good buck by the house at night when I take the dogs out. Bugger is feeding in my garden, eating the rye/clover cover crop I've got in there!

I have walked a couple of spots and no luck yet. I have not done allot of shed hunting but just another reason to get out in the woods and hang out. I did find a skull and rack in one spot though, probably struck by a car. The deer was young and not much hunting pressure at this spot.

So i recently got permission to hunt this older guy's farm here in mechanicsville so i went over this morning to walk around and check out some possible stand locations and look for turkey activity and figured i'd do some shed hunting while i was there. Didnt find any fresh sheds but managed to find 4 from last year. Their faded to white a little bit but found a cool looking 5pt crabclaw shed, 2 4pt sheds and a 3pt shed. really looking forward to hitting it again in about a month when most have dropped from this year. heres a couple pics Attachments:

Only time I ever find them is with the bushhog: Clack-clack-clack! ;D to funny. I went out today in the rain and managed 2 fresh sheds a left side of a six pt and the left side of a 4 pt. I feel that the best time to look is when it's dark and overcast or in the rain i almost never go when it's sunny out. Reason being the sheds seem to stand out so much more when its dark and the rain helps to mat the leaves down and they stand out even better. May sound dumb but i'm tellin yall people that's the best time to look i hardly ever find sheds when it's bright and sunny out. Trust me people go by that tip and i guarantee you that you'll have much more success finding sheds.
