Went out on the Bay with some friends Saturday and hooked up with this nice rock fish. It ended up being 40" and 26lbs 4oz. Still eating it though since it was so large. Not much better table fare than fresh rock fish.

Thanks, it was good too. Just made some cream of rockfish soup today. Really hit the spot. Had to freeze one whole side though. I was too afraid that it would go bad. I hope if freezes well, some things do and others don't. Like crabmeat, I haven't had good luck with freezing that, it just looses all it's texture in there.

We freeze crab meat all the time with no problem. We do it with the vacuum seal bags though. I will have to say that 95% of the time we use the meat for crab soup so its a little harder to tell if its bad.
Awesome fish though, congrats.

Nice fish!
I usually pick out 10lb or so of crab meat every fall, then simply freeze it in an old butter or cool whip tub, with a piece of plastic wrap under the lid.
Holds up fine, but we usually use it beofre too long! (mostly gone by Christmas, or soon after)
