So, what did you get? Post some pics. No too expensive and does good work don't go hand in hand in bird taxidermy unfortunately.

Looked him up and he was a drake northern shoveler. I looked it up in marylands DNR game limits and didnt see anything stating you couldnt keep them so he is in the freezer waiting for the taxidermist. have pics but dont know how to downsize them, its saying they are too large to upload.

Well, you shot it, so obviously you were gonna keep it regardless of DNR's Game Limits. Positively identifying your target was one thing that I distinctly remember learning in my Hunter Safety Class 18 years ago.

yes and i do remember the same. To break it down for you...........the bird never circled the spread just came straight in about 35yds away. Since you are so intelligent and can POSITIVELY identify a bird the size of a youth football from 35 yds away why dont you look the bird up because with a green head, white brown underbelly you and most people would prob agree that it would resemble a drake mallard. So please if you feel the need to be a d*** keep your comments to your self. And lets not forget, all i asked for was references for taxidermist not idiotic comments. Thanks and Merry Christmas

Congrats, a drake shoveler is still the one bird in reasonable abundance in our flyway that I've never taken. I'd probably get him mounted too. If he is a prime specimen and you want the best work, google brad's birds.

Thanks and Merry Christmas Yeah, try that argument with the warden next time, especially if it's something that isn't legal to take. Dude, drake spoonbills are one of the easiest ducks to ID. I could maybe give it to ya on the wing if it was low light, but you still had to look it up once in hand?! I'd suggest you spend some time learning about birds or hunt with someone with more experience. If not the Fish and Wildlife guys will end up with your boat, gun and bank account.
