Anyone got any good recipes for carp?? I used to do a lot of carp fishing in PA and hear there are some good ones around here. My grandmother used to make the most amazing doughball but her recipe died with her. Heard that oatmeal, cinnamon, and vanilla are good....
Where can I find these carp and what time of year??? I got a small boat with 25hp engine I can use as well. Thanks in advance!

see em all the time at smallwood park, only problem is when you drive in the gate they charge you an arm and a leg. If you dont mind dragging your boat on gravel theres a spot by smallwood park by an old closed down gas station that goes to mattawoman creek--free to park but gotta watch the hoodlums but plenty of fish around there

A lot of carp in the Pomonkey creek this time of year. I would suspect the Piscataway as well.

I know where Allens fresh is but I don't know about the other places. Wade- I don't know of the old gas station, I really need both arms and legs.
Where is the Pomonkey Creek? I know where Pomonkey is..... Worked at Matthew Henson.

Old gas station is on right before you get to Smallwood.Soon as you make the turn there, there is a cemetary on your right. Go to very end. Sometimes some SHADY folks hanging there.

You said it dave ive put my jonboat in there and never would go out of site of my truck, brett after you go past lackey towards smallwood park its the only broken down dilapitated gas station on the right turn there and it dead ends at the water. Also the new bike trail on 225 going towards indian head we used to park at the power switch station and walk down the railroad tracks but it was quite a hike but i do remember catching some nice carp back there

Pomonkey creek is between Piscataway Creek (north) and Mattowoman Creek (South) on the MD side of the Potomac. Closest boat ramp would be marshall hall, about 4 miles away.
As davep mentioned, the place right before smallwood would probably be good for carp and a short boat ride.

might be worth while to hit some of these spots with a bow and arrow and do some bow fishing

Cornmeal Carp Bait Boil 1 pint of water in saucepan Mix 2 cups of cornmeal and 1 cup of flour together in a bowl Add 1/2 package of gelatin to boiling water (any flavor) Put burner on low and add 2 tablespoons (tbsp.) sugar and I tbsp. of vanilla flavor. With a large spoon cover the surface of the water with the cornmeal and flour mixture. A bubble of water will come through. Cover the bubble with cornmeal. Another bubble will come through (cover again). over the bubbles until the cornmeal/flour mix is gone. Stir dough mixture for about 30 seconds. Remove pan from the stove and dump dough onto foil. Knead the dough as soon as it is cool enough, then roll into a ball. Wrap dough in foil, and refrigerate. (Keeps about a week)

I've seen folks use something close to that Busco, with strawberry or rasberry gelatin.
Met a guy a few years back from England who was SHOCKED at how we treat carp over here. Folks MAKE A LIVING carp fishing over in Europe. They release them, CAREFULLY. Some even get named!
He prebaits and area, then fishes a "hair rig" and uses "boilies". (should be able to Google some good info)
Told him I used to prebait by punching a few nail holes in a can of Jolly Green Giant yellow corn, then lobbing it out where I was fishing. Then bait up with corn. Then either toss 'em, or chunck them up for coon bait.
He called me a %$## savage!
