well i will keep you posted. i am extremely excited, don't even care if i get anything, just to know i am off thursday and friday and have nothing to do but sit in the woods and watch nature wake up. but of course i would not be to disappointed if a old big boy decided to stick his head out and walk by me. sited int he OMEGA last night and i am good to go. only thing would be user error now and i have full faith that that will not happen...

This season always causes me great stress. Whitetail or sika, home or public, boat or kayak or walk in for stags, what's the weather, uffda, enough to make me nuts during the week prior. Always try to do it all and never quite do any of it as well as I should. Every year I promise myself to do better, and so far it's business as usual this year. But isn't it great when life's biggest worry is that your hunting interferes with your hunting?!?!?!

Without a doubt, that is one of the best worries that a person could have! ;D

I even get worked up about which direction to face in my tree...should I face the swamp?...should I face the thickit?...What if the Deer comes from the field? What a terrible dilemma!!! As Hunters we are always second guessing ourselves when it comes to setting up on a nice buck. "Hunt the scrape...or hunt 100yd from the scrape...which tree should I get in....should I stay one more hour" ?? We do this because the game we hunt is sooooooo unpredictable, and we have all probably had that moment when you knew you should have chosen the OTHER option. Even though deer seem to have their set patterns, you never know what they will end up doing from one day to the next, especially when your dealing with a mature buck. The rut only confuses us more!! I sometimes spend to much time going over and over in my head about where to hunt when all I really need to do is just stick to the basics, pick a well judged spot and HUNT!!!But thats hard to do when HUNTING is ALL I think about this time of year. ;D ;D ;D

That's the ticket!!! Why does work have to interfere with hunting?

Yeah, and after all that worrying the week before the hunt it comes down to stepping out the door in the morning, listening to the wind and going on a hunch of what feels right!! The real problem with this season is it's only 3 days. I like to try some new spots and a few gambles on new ideas, but it doesn't allow much time for that sort of playing around. Three mornings and 3 evenings, tops. Work??? Heck, October 3 was my last day, layed off until April.
