Have seen a few scapes ,but alot of rubs already .Went into my honey hole this afternoon.Just had to scope it out for a day.Seen a few does with yearlings and three bucks(two spikes and a six) which proceeded to run them all around also.Seem to be a few weeks early even for them.Had one big doe run back down the trail swat and pee.(got a little exicited that rut activity normally)The small bucks have always been my gauge there when they disappear normally means the big boys have arrived. Will back off for a week and go back in.Hunt some other places and concentrate on sikas the next couple of weeks.

Scouted the farm today. Saw plenty of deer in the 2-1/2 hrs i moved around was carrying my 22 figured a tree rat or 2 would die. Most of deer were feeding on the white oaks. But found 2 trees i call rock oaks that are being torn up. If i was illegal i could have ended bow season with the 22 had a really nice 22" 8pt 40 yd's under the rock oaks at 1:20 pm. Watched him move off and built a ground blind and left. Now I'm ready for early blackpowder........

I DID A LITTLE SCOUTING TODAY AND FOUND A HUGE RUB FROM LAST YEAR THAT WAS FRESHED UP WITH BARK ON TOP OF THE LEAVES. I also found a corn pile and a salt block 10 feet off my property line, this didn,t make me to happy. I didn,t see a stand but i will find out who placed it there and i,ll try to be nice . It is off my property but to close for me, I might have to enlighten them with a posted sign.

bucksathome, make sure you are nice cause sometimes you might go after a turkey and wonder off your property and get confronted by an angry man with a gun.... HA HA! I have the same thing going on behind my house. Get to the 26 acres I can hunt on and I found a corn pile near the border. Then I have a church trying to tell me that I can't access the property cause it belongs to them when I hold written permission from the guy who owns it in my wallet. Weird season so far with no deer in the freezer yet! .......

I have permission to hunt a farm that borders ours 550 acres decided i would explore the property line today. Posted signs check etc.. Found 5 corn piles 2 stands and bumped into a older gentleman coming down a logging road with a crossbow. Introduced myself told him who i was and he told me where his group 4 total would hunt. Amazed whole farm open and they are all in 1 - 20 acre block of woods.Well since they are the only others with permission i know the rest of the farm is wide open. So sat. i will look over the rest and see what i can find.

Hunted saturday evening. Found plenty of scrapes and rubs down on my Nanjemoy property. Went beyond the pine thicket into a hardwood transition. It is a hard place to hunt. They are bedding and eating all within a 50 yard circle just beyond the pine thicket. Very hard to get back there! Saw about 15 different beds in about a 20 yard circle. Tons of acorns falling and tons of fresh sign that they were there that morning. Saw nothing. Very disappointing. No easy way to get back there so I am going to wait till rut and have it marked out to several trees. I need to see deer to give a report.

Have seen plenty of rut activity in Nanjemoy. In Frederick co. I watch the does come out of the woods behind my house every night along with the same small basket 8 pt. but he is just not interest in these does yet and I haven't seen any scrapes on either of the properties I hunt up here. I've taken a doe and a small 5 pt.(couldn't stop myself) up here with my bow but the deer seem to be slow starting on the rut thing. Right now Charles county has it goin-on as far as the rut activity goes so guess where I'll be hunting this weekend ! Also no Sunday hunt in Frederick Co. this weekend, that's the other reason I'll be down south.

Onthe way home tonight I saw 13 deer in a 20 mile drive. All in neighborhoods, field edges, or crossing roads. Including a very big buck with 2 smaller bucks and 2 does. Its GO TIME.
