you need to plant in august, and a clover mix is the best. ive done all my research, and will have some plots come next turkey season. if you want to talk details to a pro (someone who does food plots/wildlife managment for a living), let me know. if your looking for deer plots (hunting them soon) you may be to late. good luck!

Oats can work well that time of year, and there are several fall planting mixes from the major food plot suppliers in Bass Pro or other stores. I've been wanting to try the winter Green Patch from Whitetail Research, but doubt it will grow in my soils with all the salt.

The last 2 years we have been planting imperial clover in august and then hunting them early blackpowder till gun season . We set cameras on them to monitor whats happening and no other time except to check cameras did we go near them till we hunted them . We have taken 23 deer of 4 food plots in 2 yr's . 9 bucks 13 doe's and a button buck 7 of those deer are mounted or being mounted. We also plant corn, turnips, wintergreens that we hunt from gun season thru the end of the year the colder the weather the more they turn off clover and seek the other food plots wintergreens was the best last year for us in late season.

We planted our plot with Imperial Whitetail Clover over Memorial Day weekend.Did the whole deal ...round-up,sub-soiled, chisel plow, disc, lime , fertilized, seeded, cultipaced and then waited for rain.Got busy with vacation ,youth shooting competition, out of state scouting trip. Checked it out Tuesday while looking for groundhogs and am happy to report that I have most likely the best weed test area in Charles Co if not Maryland. Bush hogged it Wed before the rain and plan on using Arrest & Slay on it in the near future. I only wish I had taken pictures before cutting it.
