Going to the beach for the annual camping trip with the fam.. anyone have any advice for surf fishing? Bait, method??? anythign would be helpful.. we usually go to the beaches on Asseteugue but I always have a fishing rod.. never caught much more that a skate or two though.. any advice or tips would be appreciated... or if you have anywhere to go to fish off the shore and have any luck. i would be glad to give it a try.... thanks

Fox, I was down at Assateague all day Sat. and didn't see a fish caught. I'd try squid strips for bait. There are some kingfish, and some rays being caught and few small blues. You could get lucky and hang a red drum though. I'd look for breaks in the outer bar (The first place the waves are breaking). You can usually find these breaks by looking at the water color and the fact that the waves aren't breaking there. Fish around these areas. Good luck. p.s. If you want to catch some fish, try the rt. 50 bridge 2 hours on either side of high tide. Some big stripers there if you aren't scared at losing tackle bouncing the bottom.
