If anybody has any knowledge about trees and their diseases or fungus's.. I need help.. I have 3 white oaks that have done nothing yet this year they are spread out on probably 3 acres.. one in the front one in the middle and one towrds the back. have no buds or green of any kind.. been telling myself they are going to bud out soon but i guess im not so lucky... If it is a disease or a fungus i just need to know how to find out what and how to keep it from killing more trees... anybody know what to look for or what to do for the trees?? any help info or links that yalll know of will be greatly appreciated.

Were they healthy last fall?
Been awfully cold, could have frost killed the budset, would take them awhile to reset buds and sprout. Snap a few twigs and see if they are green wood or dead inside.

Do you have other white oaks on the property that are leafed out?
Do the twig test.

I have three oaks that didn't bud this year. But when I had my land timbered two years ago, the machines hit and deeply scared (scar-not scare) the trees. Took two years before they died. Now I'll cut em down for fire wood. Sucks but I have seen when a tree gets damaged it will usually die in a few years. The settlers used to "ring" around the base of trees to kill them and then cut them down in a few years. even beavers will "ring" around the base of big trees to try to kill them and let them fall in a few years. You could call the DNR wildlife forestry department. They might have more answers. If you need help cutting them let me know.

Well for one The Department of NATURAL RESOURCES doesnt seem to care anymore about NATURAL RESOURCES on private land...kind of wierd aint it.. the only thing he could really tell me was that if it was SOD nothing you can do!! Well if it doesnt bud in two weeks off to the amish I need new fence boards!! It still bothers me so bad!!!!!!

My Grandpop used to go to an amish mill around here....but when I was looking this summer (not very hard mind you...more like checking the phone book) I wasn't able to find anything. I have some cedar and oak that came down after Ernesto that I would love to put to use.
Do you have any info on mills around the area that you could pass along?

What area are you from? Theres one amish toward the end of route six. Two different meninite places off parson's mill road in Leonardtown and I think one amish guy off route 234 in the middle. I think one off the road that connects Upper marlboro and route 231.

If you find the Amish Sawmill in the yellow pages you`ve done the amazing........their religon only allows what amounts to emergency phones in sheds.I`ve never seen a listing except maybe the Husqvarna Guy on Ryceville Rd There is a huge sawmill on Route 236 and another on North Ryceville Rd . Ask around at the feed mill etc chances are their cousin , brother or some relative can help you out .
