Would like to send a shout out to Remi on his third birthday. For your birthday we will try to drop all the birds closer and hope to limit the marathon swims after cripples. Please rest up as we hope to get you some exercise this weekend.

I had to put my black Lab "Max" down yesterday. He was 14 and was having trouble getting around. It was time. In his day he was one of the toughest pheasant flushing and retrieving dogs in PA. and South Dakota. My friends and I once watched him track a bird that I knocked down in SD for over a 1/4 mile and bring it back to me. He didn't have as good a nose as those German Shorthaired pointers but he could out retrieve them all. I am already missing my friend greeting me when I come in after work.

Rommel,
That really sucks but in the long run he is probably in a better place and not in any pain or suffering anymore. It is really sad to have to take that step but it is even worse to have to see a once vibrant dog struggling with everyday life. I can only imagine how hard it is going to be on me and my family when those days come and I have to make that decision for one of my labs. RIP MAX

Thanks guys, been feeling guilty for a couple days but today was much better. I accually had to put down both of my dogs, the other was a Brussels Griffon and was 18 yrs. old with the same problem. After having both of them for 14 yrs. and now with no dogs, quite a change. I'm not ready to get another one right away, maybe down the road sometime. Here's a picture of my Grand daughter torturing my dogs a couple of years ago.

Rommel sucks about your dogs but like Big Fox said sometimes it's the best thing for them . Making an animal you love suffer because you cannot make the decision to put them down is a far worse senario.
